Dental Hygiene Informative Speech

hello everyone my name is Serena and this is my audience my speech is going to be about the importance of proper oral hygiene as there are numerous health risks associated with poor oral hygiene many of you might fear the dentist because of a bad experience but you should never let that get in your way as neglecting your teeth can only damage your teeth even more and you can start losing your teeth at a very young age let me begin by sharing with you that being a registered dental assistant for four years has given me the first-hand on-site of seeing how how much harm neglecting your teeth can do to your body and the effects of losing your teeth at such an early age and not being able to enjoy the foods that you enjoy in order to have proper oral hygiene you must visit a dentist regularly and I will discuss how poor oral hygiene can lead to periodontal disease heart disease diabetes and share with you some oral hygiene tips to share with your children and as well as yourself let me begin by sharing the first sign of poor oral hygiene which is bad breath have you ever seen or talked to somebody who has bad breath or ever wonder why their breath always smells did you know that bad breath is called halitosis this is caused by not brushing the tongue people who smoke tooth decay that's left untreated and most commonly plaque according to the National Institute health of of America Americans over the age of 30 have bleeding gums you should never ignore this problem as this can be a sign of gingivitis or periodontal disease plaque is what forms in the mouth which are soft deposits of bacteria the form of the sir that form on the surface of the tooth if left untreated for a very long time it turns into calculus hardened deposits that can no longer be removed by yourself or with your toothbrush so this is why you must go to the dentist and visit your dentist to have this removed if left untreated this inflamed subgun pockets and each pocket has a millimeter of two-to-three which are the normal limits but when they start detaching as food particle keeps growing into the gum pockets you start to buon which leads to periodontal disease which is the leading cause of bone loss and this can no longer be removed according to the chronic disease prevention or the CDC this can be reversed though or I guess you can say you can prevent it from losing more bone structure if you get your teeth cleaned regularly so in order for a2 to have good bone structure you must have a good sturdy bone if you don't your teeth start to become mobile and you end up losing your teeth or some teeth do need to be extracted to prevent infection from spreading in addition to the signs of inflamed gums and bleeding gums studies show that the mouth is a window to your organs so as you know gingivitis can lead to periodontal disease which is bone loss I also want to inform you that according to the Mayo Clinic org some studies show that poor oral hygiene can lead to cardiovascular disease as bacteria can travel through the bloodstream and clog up the arteries and cause a stroke and as well as the same effects for respiratory illnesses so I also want to let you guys know that that now that you know some risks associated with poor oral hygiene and why it is important to to have proper oral hygiene I also want to share with you guys some tips as we tend to think sometimes that we are not brushing our teeth correctly or maybe we are but we do miss some spots I just want to share with you guys some proper oral tips for you and to share with your children and I also want to express the importance of taking your children to the dentist as according to the CDC 20 percent of children ages 5 through 11 have untreated tooth decay it is never too late to visit a dentist and turn poor oral hygiene into good oral hygiene one step at a time so some good tips to give you guys or to share with you guys are so always remember to brush your teeth and soft circular motions at a 45 degree angle I don't have a toothbrush with me but that's okay so I just want to share with you guys brushing lick and soft circle motions always as if you're massaging the teeth never brush like this horizontal as you're missing the tooth structure near your gum line and also remember to never forget to brush the tongue the back of the teeth as well in circular motions and always remember to floss never go up and down as this doesn't get everything in between that each tooth so always remember to hug as like a c-shape form always remember to use mouth Oren's as well so remember that many people might think the dentist is expensive but that's not the case neglect leads to expensive dentistry so you don't have to brush all of your teeth just remember to brush the ones that you want to keep
