Eat More Plants for Better Diabetes Health

– Hi, everybody. Welcome back to Diabetes Everyday. Remember to hit the subscribe button. Research shows many benefits
for people with diabetes from choosing a plant-based eating plan. Reduced insulin resistance and
improved beta cell function are two improvements and that’s fabulous. If you aren’t a plant-based eater already, here are three easy steps
to move towards this type of eating plan. Number one, add more fruits,
veggies, beans, and lentils to your meals, adding fruit to your oatmeal, vegetables to your soup at lunch, or sliced vegetables to your sandwich. The goal is to make at
least half of your plate filled with vegetables. And for a snack, you can
use mini bell peppers as a quick vegetable serving in your day. Number two, choose one meal
per week as a plant-based meal. You could do the Meatless Monday campaign or Tempeh Tuesday or Salad Bar Sunday. In the produce section
of your local store, look for zucchini, carrot
or yellow squash noodles as another idea for adding
veggies to your dinner plate. The goal is to move towards plant-based for several meals each week
and that’s number three for the suggestions. Little by little, step by step, you will improve your health
from foods you are choosing on your plate. A plant-based meal has
more fiber, vitamins, and nutrients than a
traditional eating plan. Here’s to your health.
