How A Selfie Improves Wellbeing



what's up guys I hope you were having such a great day my Friday morning has been exceptionally productive and started very different I started my day with taking a walk to my local coffee shop mug shots which is wonderful cop shop here in Bloomington but walking down there to pick up coffee and sitting doing some work and then walking back back to my place to get on with some of the other stuff that I have like getting to the gym really digging digging this and want to do more of it but I wanted to jump on today and just talk about that special moment where you just like Dane you catch yourself in a mirror and interaction you're like whoa and you just like taken aback by like your reflection you see and are like who is that girl or that guy in the mirror and like whoa who is this person and you realize that your hard work is paying off and I had one of those moments today I just like caught myself I was like dang like wow and it really put a smile on my face because if trying to be a little bit more transparent but last night I got sugar cravings and was like I just need some ice cream and definitely went and I you scream last night Oh Ben and Jerry's PB Mara and cookies mmm that is like non-dairy it is my jam but indulged in that and this morning I woke up just feeling down on myself and choosing that behavior and just being like that's not what's in the line with you and what you stand for and what you want in your life and I was just like oh you better get on the scale and see how you're like how did this affect you and I really had to fight the urge to jump on the scale which I did make a post about that if you took a few days ago about the scale and how it really can affect your self-esteem and your self-confidence and how it's honestly just like the worst invention ever if you want to go read that post just scroll through my Instagram it's me holding the scale you can't miss it but go read it it's a good one I'm just been working so hard to knock it on the scale and part of my emotional well-being and how I want to positively impact that to help me live a stronger healthier and happier life is to disassociate myself worth and my self esteem and my confidence and my health and my strength from the number that's reflected back to me by the scale and finding other ways to measure those aspects of my life measure my confidence measure how my hard work is paying off and today so today when I caught myself in him here and was like whoa girl you're looking good like check those arms out they're looking strong and Wow like that waist is going into some like vampa loop hips and like just you know you're feeling yourself feeling that reflection and just taken aback by what you're seeing and really maybe see you truly who you are and seeing seeing yourself through a different lens and maybe the lens that people see you like who I saw today in the mirror is definitely who I want to be and is I think definitely more of what people see me ask versus when I can look in the mirror on most days if I'm being honest like most days and I just want to be like critical of myself and I'm like oh your stomachs not flat enough oh you got roles there mm-hmm your thighs in thick and you just I speak such negative things to myself and it's awful and it's definitely something that again in my emotional well-being I want to improve upon is how I talk to myself and emotions that I connect to my body I want to work on and so today when I saw myself in and caught that reflection it was just like wow you are something so special and like you are working so hard and a year ago you did not look like this and I say year ago because I'm so fed up with how my life was going and how my help was and really started to actively and consciously engage in behaviors that promoted the lifestyle that I wanted and promoted and encouraged the life that I wanted and so seeing that change like that picture and I'll put it up here up in that moment and being able to just take that picture was like a accumulation or of like everything that I've been working for over this last year for how I wanted to change to change and grow as a person and not only physically but like mentally and and emotionally and just what I really set out to do which was grow and have a better lifestyle and that picture it's really measures that for me and measures the feelings that I want to associate with myself I hope that today if you catch yourself and you're just like dang you are looking good snap a picture measure yourself in that moment and with those feelings and start feeling yourself like live into that breathe into that moment and just let allow that that moment to carry through throughout the day and throughout your weekend and then hopefully throughout your year next week but I really hope that you can find one of those moments in your in your day to days and I know there's people out there who who also need to hear that and who will also have those moments so let's celebrate them because it is a worthwhile thing to celebrate so no that's what I have to share with you and we'll get you next time
