How To Avoid Bear Attacks Alaska_ Safety in Bear Country Hiking Hunting Camping Fishing

hi it's alaskagranny it's springtime and you know what that means don't you the Bears are out so you need to be aware that bears are in a lot more places than people think they are and what we need to know is how to get along with them the reason bears become problematic is because they've had encounters with people that don't go well so you can make sure you know what to do so that you don't ever have a problem lots of people live in bear country and never have a problem they see them all the time so be prepared the first thing you need to know is if you're out in bear country you need to be noisy when you're going along you don't want to startle a bear they don't want to see you anymore than you want to see them so be noisy when you're walking along crash on 1 inches if you want talk to people that you're with maybe wear bells on your clothes or whatever but be noisy when you're coming along so you don't surprise a bear then you need to know the signs of bears you want to look for things like crushed grasses for maybe they've been walking you want to look for their prints if there's mud or moisture on the ground if you see like a big flattened out grass area you probably wandered into where their bed maybe and you may even smell them and they may have heard you coming and gotten out of the area before you saw them you can bet if you come across press tracks or grass it's just popping back up they heard you coming thankfully and they don't want to see you either also be aware of what's cat looks like or their poop and it's like great big difference what they eat but it would be great big and it can look like a head they had diarrhea it's big and flat or it might be big and lumpy and you might even see things like berries are washed in it which is interesting to look at but if it seems very fresh and it might even be warm then you need to be more careful where you are that there might be a bear around you also want to know which bears are more likely to be Matt it so say you see a young bear he's going to have his ears up higher on his head and if you see him from the side his stomach might be way up against his ribs and he might be a young bear which is like a junior high boy more likely to get in a fight than grandpa also they may be frightened because maybe the mama just kicked them out or they might be hungry because they haven't learned how to take care of themselves yet they're more likely to be you can't really predict what they're going to do so you want to be very careful if you get around a young bear if you get around an older bear that you tend to be much larger the ears have come down on the sides of their head as they've grown they might have a great big fat stomach they're least likely to just charge you they may stand on their hind legs they may grunt they want to get a look at you and see what's going on but they probably never want to be in a fight with you should you be out and you do see a bear if it's at a distance you and it has not seen you you want to be very quiet and you want to change your route either go back where you came from or make a huge circle around so you don't encounter him if you come upon one and you're closer and he hasn't seen you then you need to still if you use ignoring you be very quiet go back where you came if the bear should see you then you want to stand up as tall as you can you want to put your arms up and you want to say hey mr. bear how are you doing and you back away slowly keep talking keep raising your arms wave them around he may stand up and look at you he may even some did they do grunting and he may even bluff charge you he may run at you and then they'll stop or they'll beer off because they're like get out of here and you let him know I am getting out of here goodbye mr. air i'm leaving keep talking and keep your arms up never turn around run because they a bear can outrun you they run 35 miles an hour a bear if it sees you running it thinks your pray he will chase you even though it hadn't planned on it all of a sudden it it lets loose on something that's instinctual to them don't climb a tree bears can climb trees and make them climb faster than you even when you're scared so make sure that you're very very careful if it should charge you remember it's probably a bluff charge if it does actually like get unreasonable and try to make contact with you very first you better have your pepper spray with you be prepared if it just Bluff charges you let it go but if it's going to attack you then you want to spray it and if you need to have a weapon then you shoot to kill you don't shoot just to scare them away and you wouldn't do either of those things unless you were positive that it was angry and it was going to attack you because they don't want to encounter you any more than you want to encounter them and most of the time if there's a bad outcome it's because people have made foolish mistakes and judgment and antagonized a bear so as long as you're hiking and you're being careful you shouldn't have any problem if you see a group of bears never get between them I just don't do that you wouldn't want to do anything like that like the lady in Florida who was sitting in her son room and she saw five beers would enter driveway seriously she went outside and followed them around the side of the house of course there was a bad outcome don't do those things remember a Fed bear is a dead bear when people do leave food out because they're careless in their camping or their leave whatever around and bears get it they associate food with people and that's when you have a problem bear and that bear usually ends up being destroyed don't take chances with a beautiful bears we have in our world we want to enjoy them I want them to enjoy their life we can coexist peacefully okay think about these things when you go out hiking be prepared don't panic if you know what's coming you're not you don't have to worry about it so I hope you'll subscribe to the alaskagranny channel and have a wonderful day
