How to Eat for Mass | Jay Cutler, 4x Mr. Olympia Bodybuilder

a Meeks we have salad stuff right okay I'm gonna have salad with my next meal I think the hardest part about me training for a competition and trying to be like the Jay Cutler people know as a bodybuilder not as like just a fitness guy as a competitive bodybuilder is that my calories I need to eat the consumption of food exists consistent and I still can't eat enough like I'm I'm in a deficit now I'm daily basis trying to eat enough food I went to bed at 280 last night and I woke up at 271 but that's how much I lose I mean I on its tears I'll lose seven pounds seven pounds every morning on the stairs seven pounds of water the way I balance everything is when I wake up to and when I go to bed at a lot when I get to a point where I wake up at the same weight I go to bed at that's when I know my body's in a good holding pattern right now it's out of control he has a pretty big breakfast actually but I'm today and for the last few weeks he's been drinking those egg whites so two cups of egg whites with one scoop of protein then he has three whole eggs three packets of grits two pieces of Ezekiel toast and coffee that will probably end soon though no one understands how strict it is being on a mealtime schedule where you can only eat two and a half three hours at the average person should eat at least five meals I think you know if you're eating every three hours you have to be able to to eat consistently I can't fall asleep until he eats his meal because then he'll forget about it and he'll wake up like you know four or five o'clock in the morning and then eat it but that's too late so I got a I got a stay up and make sure he eats it and it's not easy waking him up if he falls asleep I went off what six seven times before I get up either gonna be Nate about three twelve oh yeah about that do you want the cottage cheese he dumping give him a couple months again shake get in with your girls anyway when I worked construction of my family business I uh I was forced to eat very quickly so now I actually take my time and enjoy my food a lot more because I'm not rushed but I would only eat like three major meals a day I would now is in the pitfalls of what everyone else did or does you know and I need enough sufficient amount of calories on it on a continuous basis so for me the amount of calories I can eat is just it's off the textbook it's hard because you followed like okay I feed on a diet and you can t you know everyone cuts processed foods and the you know no fruit and they can't eat certain things but with me if I cut that stuff I shrink I can t vote meal and egg whites and fish you know plain potatoes and that kind I can't do it I need to have like simple a lot of simple stuff in there like the Brits and like six sugars after I train and some fruits in there and something fast I eat a high carbohydrates that are fibrous like high fiber it burns it doesn't it doesn't do anything for me it doesn't hit my body hard enough Ron what's up yeah and then on both the east and west side you have you know obviously teriyaki boy which has the Jay Cutler ball it's famous for them I'm always a big fan and I and stay close to the palms STK is also great at the cosmopolitan I go there quite often what's the name of that pizza place next to Kaizen Joe's pizza Joe's pizza of course yeah that's the best in-n-out burger I just came off the in and out burgers last week no more in and outs for 12 weeks well most bodybuilders love to eat they crave I thought he does good eat that I have zero cravings I have zero anticipation for any meal that I eat I don't look forward to eat anything if you ask me what my favorite food is I don't have a favorite food I don't like to eat anything there's nothing specific that I like I don't like to eat anything and I'll look forward to any meal at all I'm an eating good today our egg heavy well I do too it's hard getting back to eating anyway you know I mean I didn't want to come back to this that was the worst part of my job dude was eating you know are you trying to run I've no gasoline when you don't eat you know how you gonna have productive workouts I try to tell people like you're gonna put as much effort in as a diet as you do unto your weight training everyone goes to gym you know four five days a week that's into it but they don't eat sufficiently enough to fuel that I wish you know you'd take a pill and be able to just avoid cooking or anything like that cooking and eating is five or six hours of my day no question you know and you see that live in my life if you follow me for a day or two or three you'll see that a lot of my day is the meals are you on your sixteen time of day meal plan 37 at 18 and a quarter is 54 we work harder to make it as close I got to charge them a little extra number one you got to focus on your food that's no course so you know you'd have to make sure you get you know your protein yeah you call hydrates you fats I need good fats whatever but I mean for products alone I mean most people gonna buy a protein powder you know multivitamin they might you know then they might launch into pre workouts and you know branched chain amino and of course number one fat burner if you trying to lean out but you know I don't suggest using a fat burner year-round pre workouts and protein yeah of course you know you can use those you're you know you're talking three or four products necessity is something that you know I think it's it's an advantage you know if you want to do things right you gonna have the advantage I so you have to try to find ways to budget and be able to you don't fit that extra stuff in there there's nothing better than chicken on the grill ten ounces of chicken now I grew up on a farm so I mean I I knew food values kind of early we were never allowed to eat very poorly and I was in Massachusetts so the meat was that I was getting was very good quality I mean I attribute a lot of that to what my success was because I was buying like you know cows and like chicken breasts from like a like a real farm I eat you know 100 grand worth of food probably between eating out and eating on a diet I mean I'm in Vegas I go I eat out a lot too you know when I'm not training so I mean that might not just be for myself but just saying in general on food it's my biggest expense probably you know I kind of do my thing I like to stay at home and prep my food I like to weigh everything like I weigh RV this is 10 ounces of meat 12 ounce of potato I mean obviously now is a crucial time in training so I take it much more serious when I train I don't like to eat out that much unless it's catered to what I what I might die it is this place steak right I didn't tell the difference cooks wonder if that other stuff is filet or not it looks more like flank steak on just water is gonna things dad you know I never had hair on my back until I started shaving you know that huh that was it I went over the zit what are you talking about I used to have bad singers do you know when I eat potato chips I guess it's you know the huh we caught up with it did you tell her I some potato chips because they were local where I live did you tell them about what you used to eat at your mom's house when you go visit yeah I used to get sense to you when I was like 12 try some potato chips oh wait you asked your mom to make you every time you went to her house tip some dip a whole dollar cream and onion I used to eat a breakfast so sour cream yeah there you go yeah that's what the pizza she ate the other night you happy – yeah I'm good for you see someone happened listen it's tough man because you it's like at some point like you you want to go eat junk ooh and you think to yourself like what would Jay say Oh we'd be like he would he would say I would man I'm not you know I'm not a saint I've eaten a lot plenty of junk food I mean there's no question you know everything cheesecake and desserts and all that stuff I like burgers you know that's something I eat to eat but like having a turkey sandwich and some potato chips is great for me that's less like a turkey sandwich with some cheese on there you know I like cheese so I mean for me it's like I don't I don't really sit there and crave okay well I have a lake house sugar this and sugar that I mean I don't get a craving for I eat Snickers bars once in a while you know there was a time when my macros and my nutrition was normal where I ate on a specific diet day-in day-out and now you know I'm just a not a control leader where I just everything different on a daily basis so the consistency has to be important as the training I think I had the best advisors from the day I started pretty much from you know six months and I started working with Krista Seto was a major player in the fitness trains a lot of top top dyes but made a lot of guys professionals you know brought media linphea want my first above deal with them so I think it's good to hire someone that has some knowledge of some nutrition Maseo do it right because the nutrition is almost more important than the weight training is it's gonna take talk it up suck it up suck it up suck Kut mentally you have to make a real crazy people approach me they say TJ what's the secret what's the sequence the seat I don't like need anything if you ask me what my favorite food is I don't have a favorite food and I look forward to any meal at all you're a living legend that's what's amazing about what I do I'll tell you de couleurs greatest of all time [Applause]

  2. An absolute legend! But that Hippo “hop” into the pool at 3:13…lmfao!! He was probably exhausted, but gotta laugh at all that muscle tissue just plopping into the water.

  3. What a fucked up life a pro bodybuilder has. Everything revolves around the gym, and, more importantly, eating. When you don't sleep you either lift or eat. fucked up big time

  4. "I like to stay at home and prep my food, I like to weigh everything" cut to his wife doing literally all of it 😂

  5. This is so true, the hardest part is eating enough…
12:53 – Yeah, treat food only as fuel, only the octanes counts, if it's eatable, it's good.

  6. Are you going to listen to this injury prone I hate my life famous body builder or are you going to listen to hyphy kali muscle who was never injured for over 20 years of training. Actually does full reps and when he is not doing his crazy prison calorie cooking, actually eats healthy and gives OG advice?

  7. This is gay and sad. Men shouldn't be this "big" and immobile, he can't even move around properly. The military body builders should be the ideal, not this. This guy can't even defend himself in a fight if he had to…

  8. What a stupid fucking lifestyle. I love to work out and eat and that's why I enjoy both. People like these are just wasting our air, I don't think there is a purpose to these chemically induced human beings that aren't good for anything really.

  9. What jay really feels- I hate bodybuilding but I started this shit now I’m stuck with it. I’m so sick of chicken.. dry ass chicken. I hate all this shit..but I have a good life so whatever. lol

  10. Jay: “I dont look forward to eating anything” Also Jay: “ there is nothing better than chicken on the grill”.

  11. Such a vain unhealthy activity..
Constantly shovelling food in your mouth to the point of vomiting, then pumping the drugs.
No wonder it is a fringe activity..

  12. When I was younger, people in my gym where trying to push me to compete at 5,7 225lbs I was pretty good size kid,but the eating part having to take food with you every where you go, drinking between 2 to 2 and a half gallons of water a day mixed with electrocytes and pissing like a horse, being mindful to not let yourself get hungry, became a boring and tedious job, I eat and slept bodybuilding, the attention I used to get was great but the eating part until you was gorged sucked and I ate every 2 hours, one protein shake alone I used to put in 5 raw eggs with one yolk,if someone hit me in the stomach it probably would have looked like the scene from the 1980 Ghostbusters movie when they hit the Stay Puff Marshmallow man with their wands!

  13. Jay is as even keeled, humbled as you will find in this sport.

All you other people: "Jay seems to depressed!"

    Really folks??

  14. exactly what i hate about the fitness industry. They always ignore the elephant in the room …he is injecting and they say its the calories
