How will VR change health care? | RMIT University

I think the future of healthcare could certainly take advantage of virtual reality and augmented reality technology I think we're starting to see as this technology becomes more sort of easier to use it's lower cost when it can be applied and a number of health domains we've already seen it being used in health domains such as treating full beers movement rehabilitation that we're where patients for example can sort of practice particular movements in an augmented reality environment and they can get feedback on the types of movements that they're performing it could also be used in dementia and Alzheimer's where patients can maybe transport themselves to places they've never been to before or trigger memories or places they have been before the virtual reality has been used since the sort of mid 2000s in health for a variety of applications that I've mentioned and it's proven to be effective so there's quite a growing in large area of virtual rehabilitation and in our own work we're actually seeing the benefits in our own research result see the benefits that our patients are gaining from using virtual reality
