PATTY (Technovation Families 2019)

We present to you… PATTY. Hello, I am the mother, my name is Esperanza. Hello, I am Alicia, I am the daughter. Hello, I am the daughter, my name is Irene. With artificial intelligence we will teach
younger children to eat healthy, thus avoiding childhood obesity and the diseases it causes
in adulthood. According to data from the World Health Organization
(WHO), 38 million children under the age of 5 are overweight; between 2005 and 2017 it
increased from 32 million to 38 million. Overweight children are at risk for many diseases,
including heart disease, insulin resistance, osteomuscular disorders, some types of cancer,
and premature death. The WHO recommends prevention with education
accompanied by exercise. Our invention allows children from an early
age through a toy, to learn how to choose healthy foods and to discard unhealthy ones. We have built a doll that captures, through
a camera, the food the child is going to eat; and tells him, showing a smile, if it is healthy;
and an unpleasant face, when it is not. We learned that learning with sounds and visual
signals is greater. Thanks to artificial intelligence we will
be able to expand the database and adapt the invention to different age groups; adding
a set of points, for the smallest; an application for the elderly; for allergy sufferers a food
alert, etc. This is our invention to prevent the childhood
overweight. Thanks for watching.
