rideshares quickly become the go-to form of transportation no need for cash since payments done electronically simply jump in and away you go but this is when we need to slow things down jumping into the first car that stops while you're waiting outside could spell disaster putting yourself into an unsafe situation after about ten minutes of driving I pulled up my phone and with my GPS I saw that we're going the exact opposite direction i sat in the back of my friends I've sat in the front and she said Kyra we have to get out right now then we started noticing that the inside of the car there was no meter there was no GPS and he was just driving she explained that she had seen him scroll through his photos and actually find a photo screenshot of the app and so we kind of assumed that he didn't actually work for the ride share app we started getting panicked and yelling where are you taking us where we're going and the driver would not respond there's no need to be left in the backseat wondering is this the right vehicle or how did things go wrong so quickly or to find yourself in the passenger seat finding the driver getting a little too close for comfort here are seven tips to make your ride share travels as safe as possible before entering the vehicle share your travel details with a friend or family member know and confirm your driver's name and card details including the license plate and car type ask the driver who the vehicles for and where it's going don't voluntarily give your name to the driver sit in the back seat directly behind the driver if the driver has a weapon it'll be hard from the pointed at you from that position stay alert and aware of your surroundings track your route to ensure the drivers taking you to the intended destination keep your personal information private a driver with the wrong intentions can use your personal information against you the less they know the better lastly if you haven't ordered a ride share do not accept rides from people claiming to be part of the program and saying they've just dropped someone off while these tips are a good reminder of what you can do to keep yourself safe always remember if you find yourself in a situation where you fear for your safety call 911
