Student wellbeing in 2016

I think the school counselor role is important because we're in a really unique position where we are on the front line with these kids every day where we can have contact with them have contact with their families work with the teachers to make sure they're being supported in the best possible way and we can liaise with the community and make sure that if there are external service is needed that they can access those easily I get to see positive change whether it's in a small way or a big way probably every day when I come to work recently we had some kindergarten students who were having some social skills difficulties so rather than withdrawing those children to perform an intervention I did an intervention to the whole class and watching all those little people benefit from the skills that they were learning everyday practical stuff that's going to support them right through their education running up to me in the playground and telling me I learned how to make a friend you get to see that every day and it's lovely you
