Suncoast Humane Society's Capital Campaign - Building Our Future

Suncoast Humane Society began in 1971 by a group of compassionate animal lovers what started in a small home grew to a regional organization that covers Charlotte County Sarasota County and the Boca Grande portion of Lee County and beyond one step into our facility and you will soon see why our current situation is so alarming this is where people surrender a pet we have room for one family no more often others have to wait in the hot Sun or pouring rain for their turn after the animals are admitted they go through a process of evaluation so that we can determine what we need to do to prepare them for adoption our area for animal evaluations is cramped rundown and hardly has any room for our staff to do work our cages are old and deteriorating as well as our ceilings floors and foundation our electrical plumbing drainage and air-conditioning systems are all compromised our current facility does not allow for proper segregation of animals cats often hear dogs barking small pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs are placed only where there is enough room on the floor when it rains the drainage is so poor that our outdoor dog exercise areas flood and are unusable for our dogs and our volunteer dog walkers we have very little room for storage and our breezeway area is a place for food drop-offs deliveries from thrift stores meeting areas laundry area you name it the customer service lobby holds potential adoptees volunteers clinic patients and most of our management staff in addition our small kitchen functions as a lunch area management meeting room conference room yet with all the facility challenges Suncoast humane society manages to have an incredible impact on the communities we serve we love the animals that come our way and cheer them on towards their new forever homes the Suncoast Humane Society is one of Florida's few open admissions animal shelters we accept all animals brought to us and are committed to our policy of never turning an animal away regardless of health age temperament size or breed with all the daily challenges we face our staff board of trustees volunteers and supporters all know our future looks bright just envision what will be created on these 11.5 acres we have purchased please consider a donation so that we can fulfill the promise of a truly Humane Society your forever friends are counting on all of us you you
