Whole Egg Vs Egg White Nutrition

Whole Egg Vs Egg White Nutrition

Hey what’s up guys Dustin Williams here
with Dustin Williams Performance and Precision Fitness and I wanted to talk
to you today about egg whites and why eating egg whites without the yolk might
not be the best idea for a nutritional strategy. Now I do want to start off by
saying that egg whites as a general rule are not bad for you. I’m definitely not trying to put them in a bad light by any means, but two
things that I kind of want to talk about concerning this specific topic. The first
thing is that the egg yolk is one of the best sources of biotin that you can get
from food Biotin being a B vitamin, b7 to
be specific, plays a role in quite a few different things in the body, but egg
yolk is one of the best sources of biotin so first off by eliminating the
egg yolk you’re getting rid of a really good source of biotin. The second thing
being is that there is a very specific protein that is in the egg white. Very specific protein and this specific protein actually makes it
harder for us to absorb and utilize biotin in our diet, so not only are we
eliminating one of the best sources of biotin but we’re also adding something
in specifically that makes it harder for us to absorb and utilize any existing
biotin from our diet. So, you do this over the long term & this is kind of what leads
potentially to a biotin deficiency so it’s one of those things where you
definitely want to make sure that you are not only eating egg whites adding in
the yolk on a pretty regular basis whenever you are eating the eggs. I get
why people do it. It’s lower calorie, if you’re trying to watch your
fat content. I get all those things but you want to be able to get the calories
and the fat from the egg yolks and the biotin is just one of many different
reasons as to why you’d want to do that Biotin deficiency can play into multiple
things. The more common things that people know about that are they are
concerned with is brittle nails, they can affect your hair, it can also affect your
skin. Biotin deficiency can cause really dry skin patches and things like that so
we want to make sure that you are getting plenty of the biotin in and not
eliminating the egg yolks and just eating the egg whites. So, next
time you have some of the eggs have the yolks with it! If you guys have any
questions let me know I’ll be happy to help out
