welcome Bienvenue bem-vindo hats little common to the tenth World Health Summit this year in Berlin I welcome you all also the name of the co-presidents of the m8 Alliance and the world trade summit my friends and colleagues from Portugal Fernando we gotta go and Joe Silva president of the famous Coimbra University and the University Hospital and as you probably know we always organize a expert meeting and a international regional conference of the world trade summit and this year we had the excellent regional meeting of the world trade summit at Coimbra University thank you again dear friends for doing that for us ten years ago in the year 2009 when we started the world trade summit we had a dream we had the dream that multilateral peaceful collaboration the power of facts knowledge and education inter-sectoral integrated joint programs could help to bring health and well-being to everybody and everyone on this earth as a human right from modest beginnings our think tank the wonderful m8 Alliance has grown to 25 international academic health centers around the world and the amid Alliance now includes in addition all 130 academies of medicine and sciences in the inter Quetta me partnership dear Minister of Health in spann dear State Secretary Maria flexpod excellencies dear speakers of tonight honored guests colleagues and friends I welcome you all the 2,500 participants here in Berlin at the world trade summit and many many more watching us via livestream all over the world ladies and gentlemen when it comes to health the world is in a worrisome State there has been progress yes but the main causes of premature death physical and psychological suffering are shifting from infections to widespread non communicable disease diseases factors like climate change political instability war and conflict flight and migration economic crises are contributing to major health problems at the same time the world population continues to grow and to age we strongly advocate a holistic and a science driven approach to solving the global health challenges when you look around you will see participants from academia politics civil society and the private sector the industry together we are strong ten years worth Health Summit we say thank you for your support along the way ten years on the workhead summit has grown into one of the most foremost international strategic forums for global health promoting health worldwide organizing regional meetings and expert meetings around the globe this year's World Health Summit with the more than 2,500 participants from hundred nations more than 50 different sessions addressing just one question how can we improve global health together we can make a difference together we can contribute to a better and healthier world and together we can make a dream become reality I think Minister Federal Minister of Health in span to have agreed to be the first speaker and the way the host of the federal government here to open the session for us missus pan were known to the German audience is one of the prominent and if I may say so influential members of the new relatively new government in Germany he is trained as a banker he has also studied political sciences he has been previously the parliamentary secretary for the Ministry of Finance and now for some time he is the Minister of Health and he is a strong supporter of Germany playing a major role in global health please welcome with me Minister yen span you
